Lately I have been working on 11x17 inch abstract paintings and collages. This size paper opens up how I see what I am putting down composition-wise, almost as if zooming in on what would be a larger piece. It's a nice alternative to the 19x24s that make up a large majority of my work.
I have also been painting on 40x40 inch stretched canvases since last post. These are painted in acrylic and oil with dots and repetitive marks that create a pattern/rhythm filling the surface with color. I had stopped working on canvas, and particularly stretched canvas, because I do not like the texture and would rather not mess with gesso, etc.
I also finished working on an assemblage started months ago on wood. These warmer days of summer have me getting things in order on my website as well, and I am now choosing a few of the 11x17 pieces to offer here.
Below are images of some of the above mentioned pieces.
I enjoy painting and making things with my hands. I started painting and selling my art on the web simultaneously in 2003. I love using my imagination and intuition in my painting and other creative work. Frequently my work has been shown in galleries but I prefer spending my time in the studio working and offering the work online. I enjoy changing things up including my website presentation. Most of my time when not involved in art-making involves my family and Jemmi (our West Highland Terrier), cooking and other domestic activities, and relaxing at the beach. This blog is the answer to not having an "about me" page on my website.
